Honors

Departmental Honors

The Irvin D. Reid Honors College and the Department of Music are working together to offer an Honors option for students majoring in music. Departmental Honors is designed to allow students more concentrated study and challenge in the core courses required in the major. Students who received an invitation to pursue University Honors may also elect Departmental Honors. Students pursuing Departmental Honors must complete a minimum of 12 credits from the list of courses below with an honors option designation.

Outline of Departmental Honors (12 credits):

-HON 42XX - Junior/Senior level Seminar (3 credits)

-Undergraduate Thesis in conjunction with MUT 5997 - Analytical Techniques (3 credits)

-Six honors credits of MED, MUA, MUH, or MUT courses 3000-level or above (6 credits)

Additional Requirements:

-Students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.3 and a 3.5 GPA in music courses.
