Under the guidance of Detroit Symphony Orchestra members, students focus on orchestral excerpts, orchestral performance and auditioning skills. Mock auditions are held at the end of each term, with members of the DSO providing feedback.

WSU’s Graduate Certificate in orchestral studies is the only one of its kind in Michigan. Its close association with the the world-class Detroit Symphony Orchestra, ranked among the top 20 major orchestras in the country, gives students access to some of the nation’s finest orchestral players. Recent graduates have won positions in and secured engagements with professional orchestras.
